This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced library assistant to join the Acquisitions Team in the Newsam Library at the Institute of Education. 

You will order and receive books, DVDs and other education materials in a timely and cost-effective manner.  You will use a computerised library management system and online book supplier databases, liaising with library colleagues and with suppliers.  Your role will include timetabled duties at the Library’s Issue Counter and Membership Desk, providing front-line services to IOE staff, students and other Library users.

You will have the proven ability to work quickly, accurately and methodically with attention to detail and have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.  Experience of working in a customer service environment and of working in an academic library are both essential.  You must be able to exercise initiative and work independently and have good IT skills.  Previous experience of using the acquisitions module of a library management system or other book ordering system is desirable.  It would be an advantage if you have studied or worked in the field of social sciences or education.
